Welcome to Our New Oregon Outreach Teachers!

We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding educators to the Oregon Outreach family: Ian Johnson at Scappoose Academy and Leonard McKenzie at Molalla Academy. Both bring a wealth of experience, passion, and a strong commitment to their students and communities.

Ian Johnson – Scappoose Academy
Ian Johnson is excited to return to his roots at Scappoose Academy, where he looks forward to making a positive impact on the students he serves. Ian has lived in Scappoose his entire life and has deep ties to the community.

“I am very excited to join the OOI team and become a teacher here at Scappoose Academy,” Ian shared. “I have spent my whole life living and growing up in Scappoose, and I love this community dearly.”

After graduating from Scappoose High School in 2019, Ian earned his degree from the University of Oregon and then completed his Master of Arts in Teaching at Pacific University. His student-teaching experience at Scappoose deepened his commitment to the community and prepared him for this new role.

Outside of the classroom, Ian enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, working out, camping, and exploring the outdoors.

Leonard McKenzie – Molalla Academy
Leonard McKenzie brings nearly two decades of teaching experience to Molalla Academy, with a career that has taken him to schools in Vernonia, Rainier, Dayton, Sheridan, La Grande, and Eddyville. His diverse professional background includes restaurant management, from the store level to corporate, as well as working in the semiconductor industry. This experience has helped shape his unique teaching style, which focuses on preparing students for a variety of post-secondary pathways.

Leonard has a variety of interests outside of teaching, including reading, listening to music, and watching movies. He enjoys playing tennis and can often be found on the court when not at home. Leonard also has a passion for cooking, growing his own vegetables, and enjoying music on his stereo system, which he proudly says can recreate concert-level sound.

Both Ian and Leonard bring enthusiasm, expertise, and a commitment to helping students thrive. We are confident that their contributions will enhance the educational experience at Scappoose and Molalla Academies.
